Over the weekend, we visited Kokusai Street, a busy shopping area in downtown Naha. The little side streets are such fun to wander around. You saunter down a little path and stumble on the most interesting places and feel like you're a tourist in a different city.
How do you like to discover a new city?

I love stumbling into things. We'll usually have a very general idea of what we want to do and go from there. We went to Ecuador for 2 weeks for our anniversary and only booked a hotel for the night we got there and the night before we flew out. Otherwise we just caught buses wherever we wanted to go. It was fantastic!! We did basically the same thing in Croatia. It's harder in more popular tourist spots because you chance not getting a room, but we love an adventure. Thanks for sharing yours with us.
Hi, thanks for checking out my blog. I can't wait to read more about your adventures in Okinawa! I love wandering around to explore a new city - or sitting in an outdoor cafe and watching people go by.
The little Mango Shake shop looks like such a quaint and cute place to grab a snack, relax and just soak in the people as they wander by. The pictures of the little streets look great! :-)
I adopt the same strategy as Chris and Amy in the first comment. I typically just book the first night and go where the wind takes me after that! I love doing that because it means if I like a place, I can stay there as long as I like. Love the pics you posted of the side streets and enjoy reading your blog! Keep it up.

I am all about wandering aimlessly through the side streets as well. But I also like to have a seat at little cafe, preferably outside or at the window and watch the world go by!
