Originating in China centuries ago, Dragon Boat Races were a means for locals to pay homage to farmers seeking good harvests and fisherman wanting safety on the waters.
These days, the races are open to all sorts of teams from high school students to corporate teams. Even the US military jumps in on the action with 4 teams representing the Army, Marines, Navy, and Air Force.
It's also a great way to hang out with your friends like these high school girls getting ready to board their boat...
Start some new fashion trends...Let's dress up like nurses and go watch the Dragon Boat Races!
or if you're me, fulfill a longtime dream of being an acrobat
But don't take our word for it. Watch this video to catch some of the dragon boat excitement

Could you give me directions? We are going tomorrow and I'm not really sure on where to go... Thanks!
Jessica,
Go south on Highway 58 toward Naha. When passing Camp Kinser, look for signs to Aja Port. Turn right off Highway 58 and follow signs to Aja Port at the end of the street. Parking is inside the port area.
Enjoy!
Thank you so much! ;)
