We've already started celebrating Sean's 40th Birthday early, but the real celebration is our trip to Hawaii a week from now. We're staying at the Halekoa in Waikiki Beach and we need ideas for things to do!

Giovanni's Shrimp Truck on the north shore. That is all you need to know.

Just got back. Go to the North Shore to check out the beaches, they actually have waves! So different from Okinawa. While there grab some shrimp from Giovanni and visit the famous Matsumoto's for shave ice. Waikiki is fun but can be a bit crowded. Visit the Yards restaurant for great beer. Take a trip to Diamond Head and go for a hike if you're into that. Have fun!

In Kaimuki: Ninnikuya...an eclectic Japanese American restaurant in an old plantation style house. In Kaneohe: PahKe's Chinese Restaurant: Raymond Siu's Honey Walnut Shrimp, Hoi Sin Baby Back Ribs and Spinach Mandarin Orange Salad are to die for.
In Kailua:Baci's Italian. Downtown Honolulu: Murphy's Bar and Grill...Enjoy!

Matsumoto Shave Ice (North Shore)... Get the red bean flavor with ice cream and extra sweetened condensed milk. (I didn't put any syrup on it - once you mix the red bean and sweetened condensed milk it was sweet enough).
Romy's Shrimp Shack (North of the Polynesian Cultural Center) on the side of the road. The garlic prawns were really yummy. :) And don't forget Leonard's Malasadas with custard filling. There are a few of them... we went to the one near Waikiki.
Definitely go to snorkeling at Haunama Bay, but stay to the LEFT (south end of the bay). That's where all the cool reefs and fish are. We went to the right, and it wasn't as good.
Oh, and don't fall prey to the "pick a pearl" scam unless you want to have a very expensive souvenir.
